Ball joint replacement
nope, they just bolt in. a bottle jack is handy for supporting the suspension arm when you unbolt them.
I suggest you also check the condition of the inner tie rod ends (under the bellows) and replace them if needed, your steering will be much tighter afterwards if they are worn (mine sure were).

Pierce thanks for your help. I just replaced my inner tie rods because the swivel joints had some play and I also replaced the worn front control arm bushings. After a test drive I noticed an improvement and tighter steering but still had a problem with the front end. Upon further inspection I noticed that I also have play on the lower ball joints. It seems that the rigidity of the tighter suspension has caused the lower ball joints to move more. I have never replaced ball joint before so I wasn't quite sure how to go about replacing them and weather I needed any special tools.
yup, thats how it works, you replace teh sloppiest piece, and voila, you find other sloppy pieces
my 92 745T..

(hadn't installed the front sway bar yet at that point, but it was all new bushings front and rear, and new bilstein TC shocks/struts, new ball joints and tie rods...)

Since I am going to have new tie rods, strut rod bushings and ball joints I am considering replacing the sway bar links as well. Is there anything that I should know about replacing them or are they pretty straight forward.
