Battery: Volvo OEM vs. Interstate
Any thoughts on a Volvo OEM battery compared to an Interstate battery?
Volvo has a one year full replacement warranty, and have to get to a dealership - there are many in my area. 600 cold cranking amps is what the parts guy told me.
Interstate has a 30 month full replacement warranty, and there are many shops around that carry them. 700 cold cranking amps.
Thanks in advance - this forum is wonderful!

O.K, a Volvo four won't need more than 400 cca, so ignore that. It's just a bigger is better marketing thing.
Buy the battery that suits you and your budget, they're all pretty good these days. Warranty is a good thing too, especially 30 months, but read the fine print carefully.
If I had a choice, I'd buy a sealed battery over a conventional battery.

we use interstate at the shop I work for and there good. Since I've been there we warranted 1 battery.
I've seen original 5-10 year old batteries work. I have an 04 Les schwab in a honda of mine still going. The truth is you could probably get a schucks battery and it'll last 5 years. What kills batteries is letting them sit and not being used.

I do recommend sticking with the correct style battery that has the flange on the base fort he battery clamps. these cost a little more than the generic group whatever, and you won't find them at Costco, they are probably a special order from a small Interstate dealer (but he'll get it within a day as their battery trucks are everywhere).
and I concur with the above, Interstate makes good batteries. Usually the longer the warranty, the more lead in the plates I always fully charge a battery with a 3-stage digital charger before I install it.
