Best Red Block?

Best Red Block?
Hello all! I'm in the market for a new vehicle and have decided it will be a 90s' Volvo, specifically a model that 1. Has the Red Brick (or Red Block); and 2. Is from the 80s' or 90s'. Issue is finding one of these cars that is in a decent condition and has a decent price (some people in Denver try selling these things for $5k, and that's not happening). I don't mind what type of tranny it has or if it's got a turbo, I want something that's a rust-free road warrior. So out of the Red Blocks, what would an experienced owner say is the best one?
Thanks,
Karoliner

Sorry but if you want a decent '90s Volvo be prepared to pay north of $5k, and they are well worth the price. You are getting one of the best cars ever made for a bargain, considering what new cars are now. And these Volvos in decent condition are getting harder to find at any price!

I just bought a pristine 2 owner 1990 240 with only 82,000 and didn't blink an eye at the asking price of $5500.00. I had looked at other cars in the $5000 range that were no even in this cars league. I did have to fly from Massachusetts to Southern Texas to get it, but worth it for a totally rust free car. These cars are out there but a really nice example will "probably" be $5000 or more. I searched Craigslist multiple times a day using autotempest.com and the one I bought had only been advertised for 5 hours when I called the seller and bought the car site unseen.
In my search it seemed the newer style 900 and 800 series were a bit less expensive.

The 940 uses the same B230F engine and AW70 transmission as the 240 but in a quieter chassis with better electrics.
