Brake Booster replacement

Replaced booster in 1993 940 turbo wagon. Pedal is hard now, barely depresses. Brakes eventually build pressure, stick and car will barely move. Tried adjusting the rod..no help.
Any suggestions.

Sounds like the check valve isn't working. When you start your car with your foot on the brake ,the pedal should move down a little, if it doesn't then it's the valve not letting vacuum to the booster.
