Brake Job
Hello,
Looking for some insight into some things...
Have a 240 DL 1988
Doing rear brakes...
Proportioning valve seems to be leaking
at the electrical connector........ for
the pressure sensor....
Has anybody seen this before?
and it looks threaded........????
can this be tightened????
or even plugged with a brass plug?
It also looks like it is plastic....
can just his part be replaced???
meaning can the sender be replaced
in the proportioning valve..??

FCP sells the switch:
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vol...44-245-242-260
IPD describes the condition:
A Few Common Brake System Problems
*and sells their "economy" junction complete with switch for a few dollars more. The OEM one is "more pricey". (they don't sell the switch separate)
Volvo Brake Junction Block (Economy) MTC 113725 1273052E
Devils bargain to be sure.

Thanks,
Yeah, probably just replace the whole
junction block...... I didn't check while
I was at the car.... If it has ABS......
How can I determine this not being
at the car.... Again, It is a 1988 240 DL.
Like could I ask somebody a question
and have them go look at the car for me?
and based on their answer... determine
if I has ABS.......
If so, then I am asking the forum
what would be the question to ask
Thanks, G88

You do not have abs. '91 is first year for 240 abs.
If you replace the box, get a good quality flare nut wrench and use care and penetrating oil in equal amounts, That's a lot of brake lines to detach and re-attach.

in general, if you have ABS, there will be this rather high tech looking block of plumbing towards the front of the engine compartment on one side or the other, that generally says ABS on it.
example: the gold 'billet' block on the far right of this picture that has the 5 brake lines coming out of it...

(thats the ABS on a 1992 740 turbo).
