Default Brushes?

Hello all,

This morning I started up my 1990 DL 245 and all the warning lights came on and the door chime continued to chime after the engine was running. I thought sure I had a ignition switch going bad, and I jiggled the key but no relief, Turned the car off by accident while fooling with the key. What resolved the lights and chime was revving the engine slightly.

Could this be a warning from the brushes to change them. The car has 152,000 miles and the original alternator.

Probably - I think with that mileage, you can't go wrong with changing them. I have been stranded by worn brushes.

I would have a close look at all your fuses first. Then measure you battery voltage during idle, it should be around 14 volts.
