I have a chance to buy a 1983 volvo 240 wagon with 236,000 miles from the orginial owners for $200.
I have know the owner for almost 9 years and they are honest people.
The last couple of years the car did not get driven much.
Last year the owner took it in for VA inspection and it passed it no problems, but the next day it started not wanting to run unless you hold the gas pedal down and when you hold the pedal down it still turns it self off.
He had some one look at it and they said it needed injectors(he said one was leaking) does this sound correct injector?
Could it just be the injector seals?
is the fuel system hard to trouble shoot on these cars. I would like to have the thing running for under $200 in parts.
the compression sounded okay, I know it has fire because it did start, just believe it to be a gas problem

it is a 83 auto/overdrive wagon

The car is clean high miles, no rust, new tires,

RE: to buy or not to buy
Is it mechanical injection or electronic injection?

Mechanical injection has gas lines going to the injectors. The electrical has wires going to them.

The mechanical is kind of a pain to get it 100% right but when it is it runs pretty good.

Me I don't like it but that is just me.
