Default Can I put racing seats in my '89 244?

Hi there,

I have a really nice, newly buffed '89 244, that I would like to put leather seats in. I talked to the local Swedish Automotive and they told me I was looking at over $1K even for seats pulled from a yard.

So, I've seen some leather racing seats on JC Whitney Auto. for $233/piece. My question: Will these work in the 244? I don't want to drop this money and find out they won't fit/work.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Take measurements of the length of space between the holes in the floor for the bolts to fit.

If the new seats have their own rails, you'd probably need to make an adapter plate, this could be aluminum, russian birch ply, or whatever, to adapt the volvo floor bolt pattern to whatever this other seat requires. volvo seats are fairly high off the floor compared with other seats, so you want to measure and plan for this.

if they are just seats, you'd take the base of the volvo seats and attach the new seats to the volvo bases, something like this adapter someone made to adapt recaro sport seats to a mercedes power seat base...
