A cougle of months? There is a small drain on the battery often referred to as dark current. This holds info in the cpu on how you drive and also keeps information like your radio stations. It will with time drain your battery. A battery will slowly drain even if the cables are disconnected. If you have to leave your car for months at a time I recommed you put staibil in the gas and get a trickle charger to keep your car on. Battery tender is one brand but I have not used it.

Wojeepster,

Your reply came a little too late for me, but it is good information for future reference. I broke my right wrist and could not drive for just about two months, and forgot to ask the old codgers in my neighborhood who love my car to start her up occasionally. I did buy a trickle charger for a friend of mine and it works fine but I don't remember the brand. Part of the reason I responded, in addition to thanking you for the info, was that I just happened to read your posting about the new links, and I couldn't help thinking that a link to the charger you mentioned would have been handy but I will just google it.
