Default Clunking Sound After New Boge Shocks Installed

1990 240 DL sedan. My mechanic just installed new rear shocks (Boge Turbo).
Now when I ride over a sewer cover that is not even with the road, I hear a loud clunk. It happens on both sides of the car.

If the sewer cover is even with the road pavement, then I just hear the normal sound.

Any ideas on what is causing this? Will it go away as the shocks are broken in, or ???

You need to make sure they reinstalled the Spacers for the shocks.

RE: (Tech) You need to make sure they reinstalled the Spacers for the shocks.

I looked at the shocks as best I could; will have the car at the mechanics this week. A bolt goes through each end of the shock. Does the spacer keep the shock end from moving back and forth on the bolt,

or up and down because the bolt diameter does not completely fill the space it goes through on the end of the shock.

thanks

It is supposed to stop the shock from sliding back and forth.

The Bolt should fill most of the hole.
