damn manifold!
Another bummer. My 1991 740 wagon has the gasket connecting the exh. manifold and exh. blown and volvo saw it fit to use a crimp style bolting/connecting mech. so I'm assuming I'm gonna have to take the exhaust off all the way from the manifold back right? Luckily it seems ez enuf for access but I'm lost as to WHY not just 'through bolt' them together?! Anyone here had to do this? If so did you get the exhaust pulled through below or pull it up after unconnecting from the catalytic?

parts drawings all show studs and bolts, so I dunno, maybe someone before you has changed that out ??
assuming non-turbo, major pieces are the exhaust manifold, the downpipe, which is 2 into 1 on most cars, the catalytic converter, the pre-muffler, a short bent pipe over the rear axle, the main muffler, and the tail pipe. from the cat back its clamped, but from the header to the cat is all bolted.
