Guys
just bought a new (to me) 87 BRICK (240DL)
i was told she was at a "no spark" situation ....

but much to my dismay i realized the distributor was not turning so I pulled it and had a friend crank the motor as i looked down into the belly of the beast and saw the gear was only turning intermittently

am i up the creek ?? any suggestions how to repair ?

Could be a bad timing belt.

 

As jagtoes said, something wrong with the timing belt. Not a difficult job if you're handy with tools.

 

if the distributor isn't turning, odds are the oil pump isn't, either.
