Engine will not Seperate from Automatic Transmission
I am trying to pull the engine from a 1988 740/760 turbo, but I cannot separate the engine from the automatic transmission. I am trying to pull just the engine. The engine currently consists of just the shortblock.
As far as I can tell the only things connecting the two are 2 dowels.
Do the dowels live in the bell housing or in the engine block?
- I have checked multiple times to ensure that I have removed all the bolts. 2 at the top, the 2 starter bolts (I couldn't pull one all the way out, but it isn't holding anything), 2 on the right (exhaust) side and 2 at the bottom.
- I have unbolted the torque converter from the flex plate.
- I am supporting the transmission with a jack

I got the engine out. I just needed to pull harder which I achieved by pulling on the engine hoist with a come-along. I suspect that since I was on damp ground rather than a hard surface and pulling up a slight incline the net force pulling the engine away from the transmission was not that great.
