Can anyone tell me what the OD is of the exhaust pipes on the 940? It looks like approx. 1 7/8"

I am looking to do a short term repair on a section between the cat and resonator until my complete system arrives.

Its probably 2", but you can know for sure with a cheap tool like this: Digital Calipers - Save on these 6 Inch Digital Calipers
good enough for what you will probably use it for, and they are very handy to have.

All you might need is 2 hose clamps 1.5" - 2.5" range and a thin piece of metal sheet. can get all that at homedepot or whatever.

Autozone has repair kits also.

I have calipers in my tool box at work and I do plan on cutting the cancerous section out tomorrow and can measure from that. I was hoping I could be "lazy" tonight so I could pre-plan required piping.

sounds like you going to weld in a pipe for now? or just clamp the pipe up?

Cant just leave as is until the new system gets there? too loud?

 

Loud is an understatement. OMG I have never rode in anything that the harmonics rattled every inch of the car. At least now I know why they have a resonator in. On a positive note It does a great job of relaxing the ole "but dyno" muscles.

I plan on just clamping a small section of pipe in place until the system arrives. I drive 56 miles to work and honestly think something would eventually come undone by the time I get there due to the vibration from the exhaust.

BTW I just read your sticky and thoroughly enjoyed watching it's progress. One day I plan on doing some mods to my ole 940 but not just yet.

hose clamps are pretty nice. They should not loosen up on you.
They have the more expensive band clamps. or can also get exhaust clamps.
