I have a 78 Bertone that I have changed the b27 to b230 using every part from a 87 240. Dash-wiring everything. Even the rear axel. On this car I used a hp22 (zf) trans. Also upgraded the a/c too later type. This is the fourth 240 I have done this swap on. Now this is where I muddied the water. The 91 240 that the a/c came from was also antilock brakes with m47 trans. Changed every thing relating too the abs even rear axel. (3.31 gears) all is good abs ok a/c great but lost a bit of getup, old diff was 3.73. So I put the 3.73 axel back in. Of course the speedo / antilock did not like this. Speedo barely moves abs light is on. Abs wire harness has the converter and I do have a harness w/o converter. So how do I get it all too work again?

For the ABS to work properly it needs the tone ring in the rear differential to be from an ABS car. When they added ABS they needed a finer speed signal than the previous models had. The older differential had a 12 tooth tone ring while the ABS had a 48 tooth tone ring.

If you want the ABS, you need the differential having the 48 tooth tone ring. Take a look at this site: http://matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/...ic.php?t=66364

Thanks for the link. I knew about the tone ring difference. Any thoughts on swapping the abs ring to the none abs axel ?

You have to open up the differential to do it. I really don't even know if it is feasible as the 48 tooth tone ring may not fit in the housing of the older differential. Not for the faint of heart.

You might want to take this thread to turbobricks. People there are always discussing changing gear ratios, etc. Much more experience there than you might find here.
