Default Fuel line repair

Hi guys,

Ive got a 82 245 wagon with k-jet. Recently while trying to disconnect the fuel line under the car so i could pull the intank pump out, i bent the fuel line producing a small hole. My stepdad says to "flare" it and all that. I need to fix this for obvious reasons but dont know where to start. any help would be appreciated. Should i get another fuel line? How hard is that? Suggestions??

Which line is it (by location)? There are low pressure return lines which aren;t too bad to "splice", and high pressure lines which should be replaced whole.

Hi bubba,

When i look down at my intank pump there are 2 lines, 1 hose (right side) slides right off after loosening the clamp. The other (left side) is a compression fitting/hose, this is the line that i followed under the car that hooks up with a metal , im assuming copper line. Actually if your looking down at your intank pump both lines are on the left side but you see what im saying the hose toward the top is on the (right side) and the other is left. Sorry if that sounds confusing. The compression line is the one that i followed under the car, its just a hose that connects to a metal line. I had to get 2 wrenches on the line to prevent it from twisting but i ended up twisting it anyhow and there is a pin hole in the line now.

Matt

You twisted the metal line (and it has a hole)?

It got crimped like if you took a straw and bent it , well after i bent it i tried to bend it back and that made a hole.

Its possible to splice it together with compression fittings ... or maybe pull a used line if you have a salvage yard close by.
