Exclamation is it the Fuel Pump...or the Fuel Pump Relay?

So, I have a 1990 Volvo 240 DL Wagon, good condition, silver.

About two weeks ago the engine started loping until now--the car just won't start and my guess is I'm just not getting any fuel to the injectors (1/2 of tank of fuel showing on instrument panel).

about a day prior it was stalling while hot; now, when i engaged the ignition to get power (3/4 turn of the key --not a full turn to engage the starter) I heard a buzzing come from the direction of the glove box which, to me, sounds like it's the Fuel Pump Relay bit the dust.

can anyone else confirm a similar experience with the relay?

Thanks! RW

pull the glove box (a few screws, its easy), and you should be able to tell what relay is buzzing by touch.

if it does turn out to be the FPR, be ready to replace the fuel pump. what commonly happens is the pump starts to wear out, starts drawing too much current which fries the contacts in the relay. Replacing the relay buys some time but more often than not the pump will wind up failing soon enough.
