Grill swap from 140 series to 88 240...read story. pics included
I found myself with only 460 dollars to my name not so long ago and needed a ride.
I had sold my 87 240 wagon because needed a truck to work.
Terrible work prospects depleted my funds and started to panic and hit the booze....
2 shots in the morning
4 shots in the afternoon
0 shots in the evening (all out)
A guy's son in Ventura, CA posted this 88 240 with front end damage for $430 bucks.
The train trip cost me 30 dollars one way.
With my sack of tools and 240 bits and relays decided to buy it and took off on the train.
When I got there it had yellow, commercial expanding foam holding the headlights and grill and a cable drilled through the hood and went under the bumper like a bike chain to keep/lock the hood.
when I started it, it was a whole different story,,,ran smooth and shift well....engine was great!!!..the guys son wrecked it and did not want to fix it was my opinion...SOLD.
18 dollars left to my name and filled up....18dollars from Ventura to Orange, CA...smooth as my babies bottom.
Work picked up a bit and was able to buy the radiator support and the 140 grill you see on it now, there was nothing around and so I decided to screw it on....a few wire cutting and drilling...detail and tune up...Voala...some hate it some like it......
Car was sold to a 19 year old girl that looked as hip as my car...the only reason she bought my Volvo was the grill swap....now it is a beach car as she worked in Huntington Beach, CA.
