Headlight/door warning chime staying on
Hi all,
Last weekend, I put a new blower motor in my son's '83 245. After I was done, everything seemed fine, with one exception: with all the doors closed, if you switch on the headlights, the warning chime sounds. Also, the dome light does not extinguish. So it seems as if the car thinks that a door is open.
Per Bentley, I tested the #31 terminal at the headlight relay. This is a wire that gets grounded when you open a door (and would, I think, energize the chime circuit). Sure enough, it reads continuity to ground. If I disconnect all door switches, it still reads to ground.
Any ideas?

I just troubleshot a broken wire in my '93 240 driver door at the hinge point. Wires break at all hinge points with time. If you disconnect the switch and it still reads ground at the relay... wire may be broken and touching the chassis for permanent ground. Just some thoughts.
