Heater pipe '86 240 DL
I need to replace the heater pipe that comes off the water pump on my '86 240 DL. The only way I can see how this can be done is to remove the exhaust manifold. Am I correct in this assumption, or is there a sneaky way to do this that I'm not seeing.? If the manifold needs to be removed, any hints on the best way to do this besides lots of penetrating oil and heat?
there is a connector holding it to the engine behind the manifold relatively easy to get to, do this with the engine cool obviously. where it connects farther back i donot know but from what i can tell you should'nt have to remove the exhaust manifold
I know that the pipe wraps around the back of the engine and terminates at a hose, which looks like a tough connection to make in and of itself. The problem I see is that the part of the pipe that wraps around the back of the motor is too long to clear the manifold. Either there must be some way to rotate or turn it to get it, but I'mnot seeing it. I really, really, really, really don't want to take off the manifold.
