Default Hood hinge replacement on 240

Hi all,
I need to replace the driver side hood hinge on my 1992 240 wagon. Does anyone know whether the fender needs to come off in order to bolt the hinge down where it attaches to the body? I can't find any place where it's possible to reach underneath those bolts, but I'm wondering if the nuts that they attach to are built in (so that it wouldn't be necessary to remove the fender and access the area underneath.
Thanks for your help!

The nuts are "built-in, " as you proposed, and the bolts are easily removed and the hinge replaced. Just be sure to keep the hood in alignment(you will be doing this job with the hood open, obviously) and align both sides and the rear by keeping the bolts just loose enough to maneuver the hood in its proper place without excess movement. You can move the hood forward and back, up and down, as necessary. This may take a little while, but is easily doable. Another consideration is to make certain the hood latch is also properly aligned to the hood release on the front grill, you may have to loosen the release and adjust it as well to get the latch exactly right. None of this is rocket science, so grab your tools and growl.

Just a little trick here. Remove your grill so in case you misalign your hood you can release the latch.

I like this suggestion! Will use it as my hood is off balance and needs adjustments
