Horn not working
its a 1993 240, i have the bentley Manuel but it doesn't say anywhere.
I don't believe there is a horn relay. digging up my schematics right now...
yup, no relay.
battery -> positive terminal -> ignition switch via red wires..
ignition switch output "X" to fuses 1,2,3 via yellow wire
fuse 2 yellow wire to horn.
other side of horn, black wire to ring terminal behind steering wheel. horn button connects ring terminal to ground via another black wire.
so, first test, ignition on (or in ACC), is there power at the yellow wire to the horn? if NO, then check if there is power at the 'output' side of fuse 2 (thats the right side as you face the fuse block). no power there, then check if there's power on the 'input' side of the fuse 2 (thats the left side). no power there, check the yellow wire at the right/rear most terminal on the right side of the fuse block. no power there, check the "X" output of the ignition switch.
If there *IS* power on the yellow wire to the horn, then try grounding the black wire at the horn, it should honk. if it doesn't, the horn is bad. if it DOES honk, then you need to dig into the steering wheel, which will require removing the airbag (danger danger! proceed with great caution, its explosive...)
