Default How do I get my bumper back to black??

Well I just can't stand those darn gray bumpers anymore and was wondering if anyone know of a product that would work for an extended amount of time (like longer than two weeks !!) I'm thinking about just spray painting them flat black and not worrying about them anymore.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to try Krylon Fusion on mine, once I get some time to do it.
Every body loves that stuff....

Best luck I ever had was that I used a heat gun the I used back to black afterwards. Lasted like two years.

If you do decide to paint them don't use Flat black, use Satin black, and make sure to prep the heck out of them.

I had luck on my mirrors using Goof Off. its like a scuff remover. anyway i think it worked on the same principle as the heat gun, it melted the plastic, returning it back to black. I also used a heat gun on my bumpers, worked well. I recommend it. You can get a heat gun cheaply, but be careful not to burn yourself, or melt the bumpers. A few seconds is all its really going to take.

If you are going to paint it, make sure you get a paint that has a flex agent in it or it will just flake off. I saw something at Oreilly's the other day that was a Bondo product called back to black? you might try that, IDK. good luck!

When you say "heat gun" what exactly do you mean? Like a blow torch?

no, its more like a blow dryer that puts out 700 deg to 1200 deg Fahrenheit.

LOL, but first, cover it in diesel. THEN take the flame thrower to it. No, but really, don't do that. That was a terrible idea

Good luck with the re blackening of the bumpers.

You wont regret it! I bought the dye right after JimWK did his thread on it and did my car! Still amazed at how nice my bumpers and trim came out with such a small ammout.
