Is Idling needed to warm up the engine before active driving
I have seen a friend idle up his car for a few minutes every morning to heat up the engine before driving his car.
I dont recall any formal guidance for 1991 volvos. Do we need to idle the car before we hit the road?

Best way to warm up a car is to drive off at a leisurely pace. Idling just makes it take forever to warm up and doesn't achieve much except using fuel.
Drive quietly till the temp gauge is in the normal range then drive as you like.
Regards, Andrew.

Theres no need to warm it up. Just have a unleaded right foot for until it comes up to temp.
Carborated cars needed to be warmed more then injected cars now a days. My 81 cougar demands that i let it warm up...
(think chainsaw or weedwacker) There is no way it will run if i get on it even 1/4 throttle when the engine is cold.
