interesting problem with my '92 240

Hi all. I'm new to teh forum and was hoping someone might have the answer for my problem. Here recently I have had an intermitent (once a day) problem with my '92 240 not wanting to fire. It seems to happen mostly when I'm running around town and have several stops to make. The motor can be off for as little as a minute and when I try to restart, it will crank but won't turn over. Now heres the interesting thing... if I wait about a minute then retry it, it will turn over and run fine. No misses, seems to run smooth and accellerates well. Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on my problem.

Listen to find out if both your fuel pumps are activating.
My brothers 240 had a similar problem. Sometimes it would start and run fine, next thing it wouldn't.
In between it would run all day then suddenly lose power for no apparentreason.
The fuel pump in the tank was dead, replaced and ran fine.

Check the fuses in the panel inside the drivers door kick-panel area (one is 8 amp, the other 16 amp). Check the 25-amp fuse that mounts on the metal rail adjacent the battery, inside left-fender area. It runs both pumps.

Another typical culprit for this sort of behavior is a failing fuel pump relay. Next time it won't start, listen for the fuel pump to see if it is running when you turn the key on (not cranking). You should hear it coming from underneath the car near the left rear wheel. If you don't hear the pump, and checked the fuses, etc., check the gray/white relay behind the glove compartment. If it doesn't click when you turn the key on then it most likely needs replacement.
