Junk in the Trunk - Water in my Trunk
Hey guys, I can't seem to figure out why there is water in my trunk. On the driver's side, there has been a puddle of water since I purchased it back in January. I'll clean it up with a towel but it keeps coming back.
Today I pulled the carpeting back since it's finally nice outside and when I pulled the clear hose that connects to the radio antenna motor, it drained out behind the rear wheel. I don't know what the hose actually drains, nor do I know how the water gets in there in the first place. I've poured water on the trunk, antenna, and sunroof to see where it comes out, but nothing seems to get into the trunk. The hose does not appear to be clogged at all; there was nothing in there when I took it out. Any tips?
Here's a picture of the spot where the water sits, after I drained it out and put the hose back in. Thanks in advance!
Edit: Car is a 1986 740 GLE sedan. I attached the picture.

your picture is no good. appears to require a login to Microsoft Live :-/
that hose drains out the bottom of the car, it sounds like its plugged up. I'd run a wire through the the hose that goes out the bottom to poke it clear. I use bicycle brake cables for this sort of thing, but most anything stiff but flexible should work.
you don't mention what car this is, but if its a 240 sedan, there's a Y of two hoses, one from the sunroof that comes down the C pillar, and the other from the ventilation tray under the rear window, then a separate skinny hose from the antenna motor. IIRC, the antenna drain hose goes to the bottom of the spare tire compartment and should poke out the bottom of the car, the other drain hose is somewhere forward of there.
OUR 240 sedan, the big rain leak was the tail lights... they get old, the plastic cracks, and rain gets in, aggravated by the rain gutters draining into the space between the trunk seal and the fender, which dumps all that on top of the tail light. a tail light lens compartment fills up with rain, then it comes out the light bulb socket hole on the back. I drilled 1/8" holes in the back of the tail light at each corner of each lens cubby, this helped a lot, until finally I got new tail lights.
