Recently had my 1984 240 smogged, and later added transmission fluid (I was low). I'm not a mechanic.
I noticed a loose hose below the kick-down cable that goes nowhere, or is loose. I've never seen this before, but could have easily missed it. Is this by design, or what is this hose supposed to connect to?
I've attached pictures, including where the hose comes from.
FTR, my OD is working off and on (possibly relay switch), and over 3-4 days my car intermittently had problems getting into 3rd gear. I fear (feared) transmission problems. A young mechanic took a peak and suggested the transmission fluid was possibly overfill(ed). So I removed some TF by repeatedly putting the dip stick in, cleaning it off, and re-inserting it again & again, maybe 30 times. Since then ... knock on wood... no problems getting into 3rd gear.
