Default Low break pedal

Hello, I have new rear brake pads but my break pedal is still low. My brakes are bad, the abs doesnt work but I bought the car that way, but the car always stopped fine. Also if I fill up my brake liquid I can stop fine have good pressure. Anyone knows why my break pedal is low?

Kruspe31,

I had an identical problem to yours - new rear pads, good pressure and stopping power but low pedal. Took a while but I finally found the cause to be at the calipers, in my case both the front and the rear. One pin at the front was rusted and jammed and the rear had a jammed piston. Changed the seals at the rear (repair kit), greased the pin at the front, re-bled the entire system and all's fine now.

This is of course after having confirmed that there was no leak in the system including the master cylinder. Hope this helps.

Also, invest in one of those motive brake bleed cannisters; It pressurizes the reservoir while adding fluid at 15cmh2o. This allows you to bleed all 4 sides without refilling the reservoir.
