Default lumbar support

Anyone know what the deal is with the lumbar support? On both of my seats the cranks seem to be stuck, if I turn clockwise it stops as if all the way up, but if I turn counter-clockwise it seems to unscrew from the mechanism inside, and nothing changes.

Thanks,
Patman

It might be broken and screwed in all the way.

Ironically, the new ipdusa.com catalog I received today, has a fix for this. It is $68.50, and the part number is EH9K3700 for the series 700. The call it Lumbar rebuild kit.
