Default M47 transmission needed! Can you help?

Hello all, Ron here. I am having trouble finding an M47 for my 240. It groaned it's last on Sunday. Does anyone have one from a swap that is collecting dust? I am in MA, 02703. Ideally I would like one with less than the 293,000 miles than the one I have. Thanks in advance. I look forward to hearing from you.

Ron, Interestingly as I sign on, I see your new post. I just today bought a complete M47 with driveshaft etc as I am swapping out my older M46 with overdrive. So that is another route for you. But you will need the entire drive line from the tranny to the differential, including the tranny cross member and carrier bearing plate, etc. They are different lengths, so thats why you'd need it all.

Some warning though, I have had manuals all my life, and I've had THREE M46's. The last version is the one you want. Seems that early versions had lots of needle bearing synchro failures and this also happened to me. Went at a easy 30mph without a peep! It just welded itself permanently into 3rd gear. The M46 I have now seems okay, but I wanted another option hence the M47. If you get an M46 with OD unit on it, do yourself a favor and get the updated "apply" pistons put in it if it hasn't been done. The O-rings wear out early, then it wouldn't engage. Sometimes running ND 30 weight will fix this, at a fuel mileage penalty.

But to find your tranny, try www.car-part.com and also www.partshotlines.com. There are two giant Volvo salvage yards that I know of that you could Google up. One in AZ and another in NC. I hope that helps you.
