missing thermostat?
I have a 1992 240 it has an electric fan mounted in front of the condensor.
I am lead to believe that there is a thermostat that controlls the fan.I am also sure that it will supplement cooling when the air conditioner is engaged.ok I see a temp sensor an oil pressure switch and I was told the thermostat is located on the pax side of the radiator. I have a connector that is in that area and I think my radiator has been changed from the original. I wonder did they change the radiator to another model wich does not have the thermostat to control the fan? I tested the fan with 12 volts and it works fine just dont know what powers it. Have not been able to make the fan work but yet the car is running hort still???

What I'm going to state here is 2nd hand knowledge since I have an 86 240 with the older style AC and no electric fan.
The fitting in the radiator is not used on 240's. Its used on 740's to control the fan.
The fan does turn on, only when the high side AC pressure reaches a certain point.

ok I looked at the schematic and it shows an electric fan cooling pressure sensor located near trhe right headlight. Is this the thermostat in the radiator? I have a connector near my right headlamp that goes to nothing? It was theorized this was maybe for a headlamp wiper option that was not installed....there is not a similar connector on the left side?? so why would they wire the right wiper and not the left? I can on;y conclude that the radiator was changed and they did not incorporate a new radiator with the thermostatic switch. As the head pressure rises in the condensor so does the temp of the freon (linear) typically ac systems will cut off the magnetic clutch when the system pressure is too high or too low. I guess the next step in trouble shooting the fan is to jumper the random connectoe located next to my right headlamp.
