Ok,
So I found the answer myself, but I thought I'd post a reply in case anyone else has the same problem. The 2 bolts holding the thermostat housing are M7's. I replaced the original Torx bolts with ordinary Hex-headed bolts, which will hopefully be easier to remove if needed. M7's weren't as hard to get hold of as I had feared! There is plenty of room to get an ordinary socket over the new bolts.
