Default model designation

I just purchased a 1989 Volvo 240GL. I noticed as I was reading the postings that most of the models were 240DLs. What is the difference between a "DL" and a "GL"

Default RE: model designation

The DL is 'de luxe' and the GL 'grand luxe'.

The GL had a higher spec as standard:- Manual sunroof; power windows; alloy wheels and auto box.

The Dl had a manual gearbox with an auto as an option.
