Exclamation need help asap with 940 turbo no start

First off I was investigating why my gas gauge does not work so the first place that i looked was the fuel pump. so i bought a used one just installed it tonight, it started up just fine the first time after i had installed the new fuel pump. after i pulled it out side and shut it off and try to do a restart, it sounds like it might be miss firing. not exactly sure though, any thoughts or comments on what you might think it would be.

thanks everyone i usually get some ideas and solutions off here, so hopefully someone can help out.

thanks again.

the fuel level sending unit and the in-tank fuel pump are two different parts, albeit on the same assembly

but, what I might think it is? its nearly always the last thing you mucked with

if the in-tank fuel pump isn't working, the engine will still run, and maybe even run quite reasonably well most of the time, as long as there's plenty of gas in the tank, but on a low tank, or under high fuel demands, the main pump thats under the car will struggle to get enough gas. my 740 turbo wagon, when the in-tank pump failed, it would mostly run ok with 1/3rd tank or better of gas, but under heavy accelleration at higher gears and speeds, it would stumble hard. and my main pump was whining all the time.

what did you replace your pump assembly with? rumor has it, many aftermarket pumps and fuel senders are wired wrong, and the pump will run backwards, making things WORSE than no tank pump.

I bought a used in tank assembly, because the one I pulled out was literally in pieces. I think it may just be the new pump that I installed, just for the fact that it cranked right up right after I installed the pump then took it out side to do test drive and it died.

Pull it out, put the new used sender together with the old pump... Or replace the old pump with a new new pump... If the old one has 200k or close, replace it. Assuming the new sender is working?
