So as dumb as this sounds, I forgot one particular piece of info. Little background: I've got a 1987 740 GLE n/a that had the ZF, swapping it out for the AW70. Got the tranny in place but I can't seem to remember how to affix the bolt connecting the tranny crossmember to the tranny bracket. Here's a photo (not mine):



That bolt that goes down the middle has a nut on the other side. But it also has a half-sphere type thing that goes in between and that's the one I'm having trouble with. Is that placed with the hollow part up or down? Does anyone have a photo? My conversion is stuck because I neglected to take a proper photo before taking it all apart.

Any help appreciated!

Pierce, you rock. It looks like the part in question (#39) is with the hollow side down. Phew!
