hi. i purchased my 92 940 3 months ago. the ac does not work and when i popped the hood, i noticed that the ac belt is not even there. can anyone help me to diagnose what the issue is. im not extremely under the hood savvy, however, i am a quick learner and i can easily follow directions. thank you for your time and assistance

 

See if the compressor is seized, if it spins put some ac gauges on and see if there is any pressure in the system. No pressure = more than likely a leak that the previous owner didn't want to spend the $$$ to fix. It's not really a DIY project on a 35 year old Volvo - could end up (probabaly will) being very expensive.
Any stickers on the accumulator indicating whether the system was converted to r 134?
