New 240 owner..... tire sizes
Hello!
I am now a proud owner of a 1991 240 and I was wondering if a 225 55 r16 will fit on the back without any rubbing. It is at stock height. I have 215 55 16s on the back now and they are pretty tight to the rear track arms and are 8.5 and the 225 55s are 8.9. I am looking to have a taller and wider tire in the rear because I am running a 350/Th350 3 speed with no overdrive and 3:73 gears and I am at like 3200rpms at 60mph and If I can get that down to 2900 or 3000 I will feel better about the highway lol.
Cheers,
Shawn

those are 6.5J-16s with a 25ET. I'd probably not go any wider than a 215 on that rim - you can mount up wider but the sidewalls will pull in and that may cause issues down the road. the 25ET means the centerline of the rim is 25mm closer to the car than the face of the wheel hub. Not sure how much clearance you see by the fenders but that's where a new set of rims with a different offset may get a wider tire to fit...
