NEW MEMBER: 940 B200F Clutch Problem
Dear fellow members,
My first post on this forum:
I had a clutch fitted to my car on Saturday (13th Oct) and now the clutch pedal is almost at the very top of its travel before drive engages.
I had the garage replace the pressure plate, clutch plate and release bearing due to having difficulty selecting first gear from stop and also from having excessive noise from the old release bearing.
I've driven the car for 16 years and it has covered an impressive 327000 miles. Prior to having the clutch replaced the clutch "bite" was definately at a lower point than it is now. The mechanic said the pedal issue appeared fine to him, but I know because I KNOW, that it is most certainly NOT.
Can somebody advise me please if I have cause for concern, or can I have the pedal travel adjusted (hydraulic system), or will, as the mechanic suggested, the clutch "bed in" (which I think is just double-talk to ease my concerns and palm me off)?
I'm a self-employed auto electrician and will offer any assistance I can if any members have the need to ask.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards;
Stuart...

a new clutch will definitely have its slip point higher than an old one. as long as its not slipping under max torque in high gears climbing a hill, its good, you'll get used to it.. as the clutch wears, the slip point will lower a bit. you do NOT want the slip point right near the floor as then the clutch may well be dragging while you're shifting.
