New Member, what should I look to buy?
Hi there everyone. Been browsing the forums the past few days!
Anyways I currently own a very nice '98 s70 automatic that is very comfortable and the like. Problem is I want to get a fun car with a manual transmission. I was considering looking to buy newer and sell my s70 but I love the brick. Got me interested in older, funner tunable cars within the volvo line. I'm a volvo fan I must say
I had noted that the 240 series are RWD and seem to be fairly affordable. I'd like to know what to look for when buying. I want a deal and am willing to spend a bit more on a car thats been well maintained etc. I really want to add a few modifications to a 240 to get the fun factor up with the manual transmission. If I got one I was planning on some clean corner turn signals, tighter lower springs, and a 240 with a turbo that I could possibly add a few inexpensive mods to.
Should I avoid the DL model altogether and search for the GLT, GT?
I'm also fairly uneducated when it comes to self-maintenance of a vehicle and modifications. I can do an oil change and change my tires etc but no more. What should I expect to pay for installations or the time and effort to do it myself?
MY logic is i could get a nice 240 if i look for 1-3K in good condition and invest another 1-3k into it to make it really fun to take to the local track or to cruise around in for a little fun.
I'd appreciate a little insight. thanks again!
