I just bought a 150k -
black on black loaded (and everything still works)
88' 740 GLE
Turbo
Intercooled
5 speed wagon,- $2200 , so howd i do-
so i gues my questions are do i have something worth playin with or no....
also i went to a tint shop to pick up my tint and they said they got a plotter and can get it to shape bu they dont have a listing for this age/model - so how long did they hold this same shape and thru what models-

The 740 was pretty much the same shape for almost all years.
In 1990 they changed it a little.
Yes there is hope for the car.
Look at this pic.

This should give you some ideas.
okay so where did the intake manifold come from-
what turbo's on it -
- and yes i am ashamed to say i want a rear spoiler - honestly to help keep the rear window clean (trust me i know my other vehicle is a 94' s10 blazer bagged and body dropped so i know the value of the rear spoiler) - ijust ain't puttin one on the blazer-
PS HOLY ****- i love the look of the engine pics nice polish work!

Intake custom made with a Mustang 75MM throttle body.
Car had a Stand alone managment system.
The rear spoiler is one from a Volvo 850 modified.
The turbo I think migth have been stock. It was a buddy's car.
Which has since had the 4 cylinder yanked out and a built 350 installed.
He was dissapointed it would only run a 13.4 (I believe)
He used to have a 740 sedan that was running in the 12's.
Here is a couple of pic of another one he had.

Plus, it's a five-speed. I recently picked up an '89 740 GL wagon 5-sp. Apparently they are hard to find. Volvo eventually eliminated the manual xmissions (in the 90's).
It sounds like you got yourself a nice vehicle. I paid more for mine and had to put in a new clutch ($$$). However, mine drives like new.
I've never bought a Volvo--I've had eight--where I haven't had to put a few bucks into it. That's just the way it is. For this newest 740 of mine, it's gonna be more than I anticipated because it's the clutch and the A/C, both of which are expensive. The rest is just front rotors on next brake job and some minor piddly stuff.
Longship's Volvo principle: "You can't pay less than $5,000 for a Volvo. If you buy one for less, it will cost you the balance to put it in condition where you'll be happy."
