now where?

ok, now when i start the car it wants to stall and does for about 2min. does the reving idle thing. once it warms up it will idle ok, still alittle rough when in gear. also hesitates (sometimes) when taking off from a stop.

RE: now where?

Maybe the coolant temp sensor.Maybe it isn't giving more gas when the car is cold.

RE: now where?

Wavewright, it only takes a small speck of dirt in the intake butterfly to cause an erratic idle.

I believe you cleaned that once, and it DID change the symptom to what you are seeing now. So I think you need to clean it more thoroughly. Warm-up the engine, shut it down, and clean. Use plenty of Intake Cleaner Spray and carefully but completely wipe the entire circumference of the butterfly and it's mating surfaces. Repeat this until you can wipe it with a clean cloth and no residue is collected. Then start the engine, it will run rough because it is burning the cleaner, but it should smooth out within a mile or two.

There are other methods of cleaning too, lets see if this one works this time.

cleaned throttle body thoroughly. have to wait for car to cool off to see it that fixed it. also i think i hear a vacuum leak but i cant fine where it could be. it sounds like its coming from the 3rd and 4th injectors. any ideas? the only thing i can think is that its the hose coming from the crankcase breather to the intake manifold, its missing, need to order whole assembly. but would that be audible coming from the crankcase?

Might be but spray around the engine with it running using the carb cleaner. If the idle changes there is a leak there.

tried the carb cleaner trick, nothing. could it be the fuel pressure regulator membrane. it that on the intake manifold?

RE: now where?

The fuel pressure regulator is on the front end of the fuelrail. There is a vaccum line that runs from it to the side of the intake.Remove the vaccum line and see if there is gas in it.If there is gas it is really bad.But it still may be bad if there is no gas.
