Overdrive Relay / Right blinker

Overdrive Relay / Right blinker
I have a 94 940 wagon, non-turbo. I got it about a month ago and am still figuring out all of it's little quirks.
I have the issue with the overdrive failing on me, and the car won't go passed third gear. I know that I could replace the relay, put on the bypass, check the solonoid, etc. But the right blinker is also blinking in double time. Are the two related? I always thought that the faster blinker was a sign of a failed / failing relay. I'd love to just put the bypass on but if that means that the blinker is still going fast then would replacing the relay fix it or is it blinking like that for some other reason?

all the bulbs should be the same, but the plastic casing on both the reverse lights are busted, I just haven't ordered new ones yet. I couldn't imagine how the two could be related, but I'm still getting used to these cars and have decided against making any more assumptions.
With that in mind, I found a nice overdrive relay online, we'll see how it works when I pop it in.
