Default Potential Volvo 240 flywheel/starter problem

I have a technical question on my 245 Wagon. After I start driving it a little; it drives fine. But then I here a very loud mechanical type of grinding. It sounds like the flywheel is engaging the starter while I'm driving it.?
It this a common 240 problem and do you have any opinions on this? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much for your time.

That's NOT likely, if one takes the view that ANYTHING is possible... If you had a flywheel-starter problem, it would be most noticeable when starting-that's when they engage...

Power to the starter solenoid should only be when the ignition switch is in the START position. I've had ignition switches go bad after 15-20 years, although not on my Volvo. Not too many possible problem areas. Check out the ignition switch.
