Default problem finding right idle air control valve for 740

I have a 1991 volvo 740 which is a non turbo. It has not idled for months due to a failed control valve. It seems no matter where i go to they want to send me the wrong version or a new version which is the one you see on the right side in my pictures. Anyone seen the version on the left in my pictures for less than the 130 to 400 range? I cant seem to find an unused one and a lower priced one that is my stock version. Who else has run into this problem and anyone got any background info on it?
Also anyone know what volvo i could snip connectors off of for the iac on the right?

I can't see the pics, but maybe that's just my computer. They are a lot cheaper from a junkyard; '88-'97 Saab 900's and 9000's turbo and n/a use the same idle valve.

Have you tried cleaning it? I use wd40, opinions vary on what to use.

Does your car have the Bosch fuel injection? I'm curious as I have an IAC (aka ISV) from an older Audi on the shelf which I'd send you if you'd like to try it (Bosch) PN 0280140505 - I think the 740s use PN 0280140516 but they look darn similar to me - (3 prong connector, 90 degree input/output angle). BTW, your pictures/attachments won't open on the forum - you may have to post to a photo album first. Also, did you try cleaning out the IAC with some carb cleaner and reinstalling? Clean it out and plug it back in - you should feel the motor vibrate when you turn on the car.

that thing is through and even if it wasn't i want it gone. I have no confidence in it and its already about gotten me destroyed on the road like ten times.. Cleaning it gave movement to the valve but it quit working soon after that. I went to my junkyard based off the interchange info i got from the seller of the IAC i just bought and he led me to get an IAC off S70s from 1998-01. Those have 3 prongs like yours does and mine has two. I dont know the center prongs purpose but the 3 prong from the yard did not work. It fit though. It could hadbeen shot however.

You guys cant see my pictures? I can see them viewing the thread even when imnot logged in. Ill try to find more pics but my iac doesnt say Bosch and im not sure if i have their injection system.

i did use carb cleaner and break fluid and we got some idle but that quickly fell off. If i can get a good reliable interchange source id be in business since volvos are either always slim pickings at my junk yard or they have 20 but they are all completely different models smh. Thats a consistent problem. If you are saying that saab iac will work ill try to track those down. Have you known them to interchange or do you just know their connectors are identical? Whats n/a?

If your car has the Regina system (square coil) then the Saab IAC will not work.

Because of system issues or due to connectors because the saab connector fits just like the s70 it just has a third prong in the middle.

I guess some saabs run the 3 prong. The one I was referring to is Bosch 0280140516. The spacing of the prongs are closer than the Bendix regina system iac. I don't know of any analogue for the regina system. It's an odd duck.

Allegedly if you splice a bosch wire pigtail, the bosch iac will work on the regina system.

In future, mention that your car is a regina 740; helps.

He probably didn't even know his system was Regina. I just noticed the Regina style IAC in the picture that he posted.

As per a previous thread of his, it *should* be a known. I wrote that so the OP would know to include salient details about the car in the future.

Id tried to find out in the past if it was regina or not and found no evidence to verify or reliable info on that volvo variant.

I cant even get the new iac to work in this vehicle even though it works when i hook the iac to a battery or jumper. Does anyone know which relay controls the iac or the terminals on the ecm that i can test?
