Unfortunately the metal trim is no longer produced and difficult to find undamaged. The early 240's didn't have a gasket but the windshield was installed using a rubber sealant and trim clips which held the trim. Volvo changed the windshield gasket and integrated the rubber trim onto the windshield. The later model windshield fits the early cars so your 88 can use the 90-93 windshield. Volvo also did the same change with the 740's.
There is no rubber gasket. the early and later models windshields were installed using a rubber sealing material. It is not a gasket. Your model required clips to be inserted into the sealing material so the trim could be installed. The later model windshield has the trim molded to the windshield. They then use sealant to install the windshield. To fix it you need the windshield to be REMOVED and reinstalled. The difference is the newer windshield don't have the separate trim. If you can have a later model windshield installed as they will fit

Yes, I am aware of the parts and installation process. The acual issue is that I cant find my 88 240 listed anywhere. 240 is only ever listed as 90-93, and i know that the windshield installation is different, which is the actual dilemma. But thanks for all of your infoormation
