question about the idle stabilizer 1986 car
how does this work, doe's it need a pick up point of the coil? I have changed my igniton to a stand alone hot spark system.thanks... note....... doe's it work off the throttle switch? i.e.org wire?

Here is a list of diagrams from a 86 240 model: http://www.volvowiringdiagrams.com/v...240%201986.pdf
Page 19 has the engine parts. look for idle valve. It's near the center of the page.
Check out other diagrams: Volvo Wiring Diagrams=

the volvo ICU (Ignition Control Unit) sends timing pulses to the ECU (fuel injection control unit), the ECU tracks the engine RPM and timing from these pulses.
the ECU runs the idle air controller as well as the injectors, and also the fuel pumps

I guess the point it the FI ecu that runs the idle stabilizer get a 'NEG ' signal from the the igniton ecu or can it get the same 'NEG ' signal, from the coil.. or ahs anyone here put lh2.2 jet on a older Volvo and not used the stock EZ ignition that comes with lh jet cars.
the timing pulse into the ECU comes directly out of the ICU, its /not/ the same signal as the coil power pulse. I've not stuck an oscilloscope on it, but its likely a TTL 5V pulse, rather than the 12V power pulse that goes to the coil
