replacing front grille
So I am new to the Volvo game and just picked up a '86 244, and am starting to do some little things to it as I save up money for coils and wheels. So I removed the front grille and found that it was held on by a zip tie?! How is the bottom normally from the factory?
Pictures would be helpful but knowledge is good too.
I would love to get the grille back on since I finished it yesterday. I wanted to go badge less on the front grille but I hated the grove the Volvo emblem left so I filled them with epoxy and sanded them to look the same as the rest. So now I have a stock grille that is all flush. It came out sweet and would love it back on the car the right way.
Thanks

IIRC, it has a tab (or two?) that fits into a slot(s) at the bottom, and hte top is held in with two spring clips into square holes. odds are, your tabs are broken, hence the zip ties.
lowering a 240 and putting oversized low profile wheels on it will ruin the ride. be forewarned. (assuming thats what you mean by wheels and coils). I wouldn't go over 15' with /60 tires in a size compatible with the stocks. one of the things I really like about our 240 and 740 is that they DON'T scrape curbs, speed bumps, and driveways lips like too many newer cars.
