reverse lights on/off *neutral safety switch
I got a question:
I replace my neutral safety switch awhile back, which made a loud sound at the starter. and smoke starting to come out of the gear selector which a old wire grounded itself. SO i replaced it, but i notice my reverse lights sometimes doesnt come on.. So i was look at my rear side mirror.. and notice if i pull the gear selector a little back while at reverse the light goes on, and push it forward lights is off.. so i guess is some loose connections somewhere. maybe on the groove to the selector. any ideas? |

You might also have to adjust the shifter rod under the car. If the bushings are worn or new ones installed then you might need to adjust the rod slightly.

Thanks for the reply tech!
Which bushings were you talking about? And how do I adjust the rod slightly. Sorry I dont really know how to repair my 240. |
RE: reverse lights on/off *neutral safety switch
There is some bushings where the Rod goes from the body of the car. The shift bucket under the car to the transmisson. Some cars have 2 bushings some have 3 and some have 4.
You will have to look and see if your Rod is adjustable. If it is then you will see a nut and threads. |
