I dont know if i should change the "varilla" in the transmission, because i mean, the part retails for 86 dollars, and the installation would be like 30 dollars AT LEAST, and i dont know if I should spend like 120 dollars just to get rid of the clunking sound when i shift from P to R or whatever.....I dont think its worth it
What do you think? I should focus more on the strut bases and the front springs

I mean, the mechanic told me its that the part im talking about is worned out, but he didnt say that it was IMPORTANT or anything, i mean this clunking sound has been there since i can remember.....like...8 years ago or 9.....and nothing has happened...I will call the volvo tomorrow and ask them what is the "varilla" for, and if its IMPORTANT that i replace it(i bet they will say yes) but i will ask them exactly what does it do and more info to let you guys know

I mean, it could be either one, but im really not sure, the price of the original volvo part is 63 dollars, and the guy said that it needs 2 clips(might translate to bearing, not sure) also..and each clip was worth 6 dollars...

So i called the dealership, he says that if i dont change it, with time, the gears wont engage properly and will move by itself....He says that the varilla is the piece that shifts the gears and holds them, that is just worned out
He says that in time, lets say my shift **** is in D and it may change to 2nd or 3rd without me moving it

Sorry but this is one of the I would have to see it to tell you what I would advise.
Is there anyway you could jack up the car and take a picture of the side of the transmission on the Left side of the car? (drivers side U.S.)
Towards the front of the transmission you wil see a rod going back. It will go to a piece that comes out of the floor. Take a good pic of that and I might be able to help you.
If it is the bushings then it should be like $10.00 for Parts and 1/2 hour labor to install.

So the bushings are not it, Ill try to jack up the car and take a pic, but exactly where is this rod you want me to take a picture of? Drivers side but how will i be able to locate it? i dont know much about those things, The other mechanic(not at the dealership) told me that the thing circled in the picture had something wrong with it, does it make sense? he told me that that piece is what engages the gears, and something is wrong with it, but i dont know if he's right
