hi im looking for some help. i have a 85 240 dl wagon. 218k with an auto trans. the engine has no power and the car has lots of trouble making it up hills or getting up to speed. it had a clogged cat was replaced along with a junk yard distributor and a tune up. I have been told that thr harmonic balancer can some times spin throwing off the timing mark. any ideas? any help would be great thanks pawk

 

Yes the balancer does spin.The easiest way to test is make a paint mark or mark somehow from inside to outside.Start the car drive around the block come back and turn the car off and check the pulley.You might have a bad o2 sensor too.
